Update coronavirus measures for Belgian casinos

Update Coronavirus: casinos, slot machine arcades, cafes and betting offices must remain closed

In response to the latest developments in the coronavirus, the National Security Council met again on 13 May 2020.

Article 1 §1 of the Ministerial Decree of 15/05/2020 (Belgian Official Gazette: http://www.ejustice.just.fgov.be/doc/rech_n.htm) states:

1 By way of derogation from the first paragraph, the following companies are closed, including as regards home services:
1 ° the massage parlors;
2 ° the wellness centers, including saunas;
3 ° the fitness centers;
4 ° the casinos, slot machine arcades and betting offices

Article 10 of this ministerial decree provides that these measures will apply until 7 June 2020.

Article 1 §7 of the Ministerial Decree of 8/05/2020 (Belgian Official Gazette: http://www.ejustice.just.fgov.be/doc/rech_n.htm) continues to apply:

7. The establishments belonging to the cultural, festive, recreational, tourist, sport and catering sector are closed.

Article 10 of this ministerial decree provides that these measures will apply until 8 June 2020.

It goes without saying that we monitor the situation closely. We will communicate on our website as soon as there is additional information about the reopening of gaming establishments. It is therefore best to keep an eye on the news items on our website.

What about the newspaper shops?

The ministerial decree of 8/05/2020 does not specify anything for the betting terminals in newspaper shops. This means that they can be put into operation.

Certain measures must be taken to prevent the spread of Covid19, including those provided for in Article 1, §2:

– Social distancing

– One customer per 10m²

– Maximum 30 minutes

– Hand hygiene
