Matchday 27/06/2021: 18.00: Netherlands vs Czech Republic

The Czech Republic drew 1-1 against vice-world champions Croatia on Friday. The Czechs won 0-2 against Scotland on the first day of play and are now in the lead with England in Group D. Patrik Schick scored another goal for the Czechs and his counter now stands at 3 goals. The Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker is the only top scorer in the tournament.

With 4 points, the Czech Republic is normally certain of a place in the 1/16th finals. If it can beat England at Webley Stadium, it will take group win in Group D. If the game ends in a draw, the Czech Republic will be group winner.

England also got no further than a draw against their neighbors from Scotland. Both teams had some great opportunities but failed to score. For England it is the 17th time in its history that it has drawn 0-0 at a major tournament.

England want to go to the knockout stage as group winners and must therefore beat the Czech Republic. The Three Lions also played twice against the Czech Republic in 2019 in the qualifying group for the European Championship. In London, the English won 5-0 and in Prague they lost 2-1.

Belgium won 0-2 against Finland on the last day of play and, like Italy and the Netherlands, they go to the 1/8th finals with a perfect report. As Poland lost to Sweden and Hungary and drew against Germany, the Red Devils will face the best third in the Group of Death: Portugal.

Belgium against Portugal is the winner of the 1/8th finals and if Belgium gets past the Portuguese, Italy will probably follow in the quarter-finals and France in the semi-finals. The Red Devils want to go to the final of the European Championship but first have to get past some top teams to succeed.

Portugal drew 2-2 against world champions France on the third day of the group stage. The only player to score for Portugal was again Cristiano Ronaldo (30′, 60′), twice via penalty. France thus finishes at the top of Group F, followed by Germany and Portugal. Hungary goes home with their heads held high and 2 points.

The Portuguese never lost to Belgium in recent years. The last time Portugal suffered a defeat against the Red Devils was in 2007. The Belgians almost always score in their last matches and Portugal will therefore try to score a goal more than Lukaku and co.
