Matchday 23/06/2021: 18.00: Wales vs Denmark

Wales lost 1-0 to Italy on the last day of the group stage. But with a draw against Switzerland (1-1) and a win against Turkey (0-2), the Welshmen take second place and the team nevertheless advances to the 1/16th finals.

Matchday 23/06/2021: 21.00: Italy vs Austria

Italy beat Wales 1-0 on the third day of play and advanced to the 1/16th finals with a perfect report. Matteo Pessina scored the only goal of the game at the end of the first half. La Squadra scored 7 goals in the group stage and did not concede a single goal, thus profiling itself as one of the outsiders for the overall win.

After their great performance in the group stage and the corresponding 9 out of 9 Italy are favorites to advance to the 1/8th finals. Roberto Mancini, meanwhile, equaled a new national record, not losing in 30 consecutive games while at the helm.

Austria won 3-1 against North Macedonia on the first day of play, taking its first ever win at a European championship. By winning 0-1 against Ukraine on the third match day, the Austrians now also advance to the 1/16th finals. The Ukrainians needed to score to push through but just weren’t good enough to endanger Austria.

Austria was by far the better team against Ukraine and this is something the team must trust with a view to the 1/16th finals. For the Austrians, the European Championship has already been successful and therefore Franco Foda’s troops can start the match against Italy without pressure
