Bonus prohibited by new Belgian gambling legislation and legal limit

Due to changes in Belgian gambling legislation, a bonus is prohibited at the legal online Belgian casinos and the legal limits are adjusted. We think it is important to inform you about the progress of these regulations.

You probably remember that in October 2018 the Belgian government published a Royal Decree on advertising that went into effect in June 2019.

In this Royal Decree there was mention of a bonus limitation of € 275 per month. On 6 February 2020, the Council of State issued a ruling on the decision related to this limitation of bonuses, stating that the bonus limitation to € 275 per player per month was ultimately irrelevant, since bonuses are illegal under the law

As a result, all Belgian legal online casinos will stop all active bonuses, including but not limited to sign-up bonuses, cash, bonuses with play-through requirements, free spins and free bets.

This change takes effect on March 1, 2020. By this date, all Belgian legal online casinos will deactivate all welcome offers and any other bonuses, free bets, free spins, etc. at our casino.

Bonus prohibited

From 1 March 2020 a bonus is banned on legal Belgian gambling sites.

Legal limit of € 500

You will have noticed that a “legal” deposit limit of € 500 per week applies on our site as standard. The Royal Decree of 25 October 2018 obliges us to contact the Gaming Commission when a player asks to lift this standard limit, so that they can check whether you are not registered as a defaulter at the Central Individual Credit Register. However, the Gaming Commission has not yet established a verification system.

What to do to increase the limit

In this context, the following applies if you want to increase the interference limit:

  • If you are already registered on a site and you have already disabled your “legal” limit, and you have it disabled, then you declare that you are not registered as a defaulter at the Central Individual Credit Register. You undertake to play responsibly and you accept that the caasino cannot be held liable because they are unable to comply with the aforementioned Royal Decree. If desired, you can reset the “legal” limit on the page of your personal settings.
  • If you are already registered on a site and you have not yet disabled the “legal” limit, but you would like to do so, you must send the casino proof that you are not registered as a defaulter at the Central Individual Credit Register .
  • If you have just registered on a site and want to disable the “legal” limit, you must send proof to the casino that you are not registered as a defaulter at the Central Individual Credit Register.
  • If you live outside the Kingdom of Belgium, you are not subject to this check. If you decide, or have decided, to disable the “legal” limit, you undertake to play responsibly and you accept that the casino cannot be held liable because they are unable to comply with the above the aforementioned Royal Decree.

You will find a link to the procedure as soon as you make your wish to increase your deposit limit known on the page with your personal settings.

Adjust legal limit

We would also like to remind you that on certain sites you can set personal limits per day, week and month, which you can adjust after a period of 72 hours. These limits help you to play responsibly.

We also point out that you can impose a gambling ban on yourself (via registration in the EPIS system). You can do this at our physical locations, our websites or on the website of the Gaming Commission.
